5 Most glaring Clemson needs coming out of the transfer portal

Clemson Football might say they are comfortable with the roster they have now, but new voices like Matt Luke or Chris Rumph or veterans like Garrett Riley or Mike Reed might feel differently after they go through spring practices.

Clemson Football offered four offensive linemen who were in the transfer portal this offseason, but they ultimately didn’t land any.

Head coach Dabo Swinney didn’t rule out taking any transfers before the beginning of the 2024 season, but he also said the staff was comfortable with the roster they had in most places.

The pivot point for this is spring practices when the coaches get their players on the field and they can evaluate as well as train. It is conceivable by the end of the Spring Game, some comfort levels could change. Some Tigers could elect to leave following the spring.

Additionally, options in the portal can change. Players from other programs could enter the portal during the spring window, which follows the conclusion of spring ball around the country.

Is it likely that Clemson will take another swing or two in the portal this spring? Yes, very likely.

Is it likely that they will get a hit? We all know the answer is no.

Until Clemson can adjust to speed dating and make their best NIL offer right off the bat, it is a long shot that someone who fits the profile that the Tigers want will choose to come to Clemson.

If Clemson does offer any more portal players, these are the areas that have the most glaring needs as things stand right now.
