What a night for Clemson Nation! The Kansas City Chiefs just rocked the NFL world by grabbing Peter Woods with the 29th pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. This is the kind of moment Tiger fans will be talking about for years.

Woods is the second Tiger to get the call tonight, joining big Blake Miller, who went 17th to Detroit. Clemson is back to stacking first-rounders, just like we did in 2023. Dabo’s machine keeps rolling, and the rest of college football better take notice—Clemson is still churning out champions.

The "Two-Way" Terror

Peter Woods is no ordinary defensive tackle. At 6-2, 300 pounds, he’s a true unicorn—just ask anyone who tried to block him. He racked up 99 tackles and 14.5 tackles for loss, but that’s just the start. Woods brought back memories of the great William “Refrigerator” Perry, bulldozing his way to two touchdowns and four first downs on offense in 2025. Only at Clemson do you get a two-way terror like this.

"He's a kid we had our eye on right from the beginning," Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said shortly after the pick. "He's got great athletic ability."

Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo can’t wait to unleash Woods all over the field. Nose tackle, three-tech, lead blocker at the goal line—Peter does it all. He’s the ultimate plug-and-play weapon, and now the back-to-back champs just got a whole lot scarier thanks to a Tiger.

A Heart of Gold

The NFL Draft is all about business, but Peter Woods gave us the night’s biggest heartstring moment in Pittsburgh. Right after the Chiefs called, Woods turned around and handed the keys to brand-new Maseratis to his mom and sister. That’s the kind of character and family-first attitude Dabo Swinney has been bragging about since day one.

"He’s a graduate in three years," Swinney noted. "He’s a guy that has great readiness to come in and be a pro. Honestly, he's probably a guy that could have made a team two years ago."
