Senior Nathan Richmond and sophomore Ransford Gyan provided No. 9 Clemson with its first two goals of the 2025 season, as the Tigers (0-0-1) and No. 11 Indiana Hoosiers (0-0-1) battled to a 2-2 draw to open the season. Clemson finished with eight shots, six of which were on target, while Indiana clocked 12 total shots.
The Tigers struck first as Richmond found the back of the net in the 31’. The goal was Richmond’s first since October 20, 2023, as the Atlanta native missed the majority of the 2024 season due to injury. Joseph Andema made two first-half saves to keep the Tigers in front after 45:00.
Gyan netted the Tigers’ second goal in the 58’. The MAC Hermann Trophy watch list honoree drew a foul in the box to earn a penalty, then converted the opportunity to put the Tigers ahead 2-0.
Clemson was tagged with a red card in the 64’, putting the Tigers down a man for the remaining 26:00, before the Hoosiers managed to earn a penalty kick of their own and cut Clemson’s lead in half in the 67’.
With 10 minutes to play, the Tigers’ backline blocked two shots, but the Hoosier offensive was relentless and set a cross pass through the middle of the box that found Indiana’s Jacopo Fedrizzi, who leveled things at 2-all.
Both programs had looks offensively in the final five minutes of play with a corner kick each, but neither side was able to capitalize, resulting in the draw.
