With official visit season wrapping up, the recruiting world is about to hit full throttle, and nowhere is the pressure higher than in Tiger Town. Prospects everywhere are racing to make their choices before senior year kicks off, and Clemson’s staff is working overtime to stay ahead of the curve. This wild stretch has turned the Tigers’ defensive board upside down, but if there’s one thing we know, it’s that Dabo and company thrive when the stakes are highest.

The Midwest Miss: Roman Igwebuike Trends to South Bend

Tiger fans woke up to a gut punch as the recruiting experts started leaning hard toward Notre Dame for elite linebacker Roman Igwebuike. The four-star Chicago Mount Carmel star has been near the top of Clemson’s wish list ever since he earned his offer at the Elite Retreat back in March, and losing out on him stings.

At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Igwebuike is a true difference-maker, ranked No. 137 nationally and the No. 9 linebacker in the country. Clemson made a big push during his May 29 visit, but Notre Dame played the home-field card on his June 12 trip and now the experts are all in on the Irish. With Sean Fox also trending away, the Tigers are regrouping and ready to reload with new targets.

The Rapid Pivot: Clemson Closes In on R.J. Hudson

But don’t count out the Tigers. Tom Allen and his staff wasted no time, shifting gears and going all-in on Virginia’s R.J. Hudson. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound wrecking ball turned heads at the Dabo Swinney Football Camp, earning an offer right then and there. Hudson didn’t hesitate—he scrapped his Syracuse visit and made a beeline for Tigertown, showing just how much the Clemson brand still means.

Some folks see Hudson as an edge rusher, but Clemson’s staff—led by Tiger legend Ben Boulware—knows he’s built to be a sideline-to-sideline force at linebacker. This kid is a winner, plain and simple. He led Varina to a 13-2 record and a state title last fall, racking up 45 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and a jaw-dropping 13 sacks. And with a 21.7 in the 200 meters, he’s got the speed to match the production.

Locking in the Final Linebacker Piece

Clemson’s relentless recruiting push has put the Tigers firmly in control. After Hudson’s visit to Death Valley, the experts couldn’t get their picks in fast enough for Clemson. All signs point to the Tigers locking down another elite defender as decision day approaches.

Tiger Nation, the wait is almost over. Hudson will announce his decision this Friday at 4:00 p.m. Eastern, and if the experts are right, Clemson is about to add the perfect finishing touch to its 2027 linebacker group. Pairing Hudson with Bryce Kish and Max Brown keeps the Tigers right where they belong—among the nation’s elite.
