Clemson opens its ACC slate at Georgia Tech. Here are the Tigers’ keys to escaping Atlanta with a win.
1. Protect Cade Klubnik
Georgia Tech has athletes up front who can create chaos. Clemson’s offensive line, anchored by Blake Miller and Walker Parks, must keep Klubnik upright to allow him to push the ball downfield.
2. Win the Turnover Margin (Again)
It’s no coincidence Clemson’s last 15 games without a negative turnover margin produced 12 wins. The Tigers need to keep the ball secure while capitalizing on Tech’s mistakes.
3. Establish the Run
Running back Adam Randall is coming off a 100-yard performance and looks to become the first Tiger with back-to-back 100-yard rushing games since Phil Mafah last season. Sustaining drives on the ground will be critical in hostile territory.
4. Force Haynes King Into Errors
Tech’s quarterback has shown explosiveness but is also turnover-prone. Clemson’s secondary already has multiple interceptions this season and must keep the ball-hawking trend alive.
5. Start Fast
Last week against Troy, Clemson fell into a 16-point hole before roaring back. Against a confident Georgia Tech team, spotting points early could be disastrous.
