Is Clemson wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr. playing today vs. Louisville?
By Josh Yourish
Clemson’s passing offense needed a jolt of explosiveness after struggling last season. So far this year freshman wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr. has filled that role for quarterback Cade Klubnik and offensive coordinator Garrett Riley. Wesco has only made 11 catches on the year but has produced 262 yards and two touchdowns, with a team-high average of 23.8 yards per reception.
However, his status for Clemson’s Week 10 matchup against Louisville on Saturday night in Death Valley is in doubt. Wesco has not played since the Tiger’s 29-13 win at Florida State on October 5. In the two games without Wesco, Clemson is 2-0 and is averaging 48.5 points per game. For the season, the Tigers are 6-1 and averaging 42.0 points per game which is the fourth best in the country.
Those two wins without Wesco on the field came over Wake Forest and Virginia, so the 5-3 Louisville Cardinals will be a bit of a tougher test for Dabo Swinney’s No. 11 Clemson Tigers who are looking to make the ACC Championship game.
The Clemson offense may not need Wesco to beat the Cardinals in Week 10. Still, he would certainly help Klubnik create explosives in the passing game to counter a Louisville offense with veteran quarterback Tyler Shough and head coach Jeff Brohm who loves to push the ball downfield.
Bryant Wesco injury update:
True freshman five-star wide receiver Bryant Wesco is questionable for Clemson’s Week 10 matchup with Louisville in Death Valley. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Wesco is considered day-to-day and has increased his practice workload.
