The internet’s most talked-about German tourist is back in action, and this time, he’s landed right where the orange runs deepest: Clemson, South Carolina.
FreddyLA7, the mysterious German soccer diehard who stole the show at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has reactivated his X account and is now taking his American road trip to the one and only Clemson. After a flood of support from fans across the country, Freddy is about to find out what real college football passion looks like.
Hello again.

We’re currently in Clemson, South Carolina. I’ve decided to come back here to document the final part of our road trip.
The main reason I deactivated my account two weeks ago was that things became increasingly toxic. For some people, it’s unfortunately… pic.twitter.com/Ep2FSRA3oB
The Rise, Fall, and Return of @FreddyLA7
If you were anywhere near social media during the World Cup, you saw Freddy’s journey. He kept his identity under wraps with a Ronaldo avatar, but his wide-eyed takes on everything from Buc-ee’s to Bass Pro Shops to Wendy’s made him an instant fan favorite. Freddy’s love for all things American earned him the kind of viral fame that gets you VIP NASA tours and penthouse invites from NFL stars.
But with internet fame comes the usual wave of skeptics. Suddenly, Freddy was accused of being everything from a CIA plant to a marketing stunt. After Germany’s World Cup exit at the hands of Paraguay, the online mob dug up old tweets and the negativity hit a fever pitch. Worn down by the drama, Freddy pulled the plug on his X account and called out the haters on Instagram for trying to ruin what was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
But Freddy couldn’t stay away from the country that accepted him, and after a two-week break, he’s back on X and back in the spotlight.
The American internet immediately threw their arms around him. "Look Mitch, Freddy's back," one user celebrated. Even Major League Soccer's Charlotte FC reached out, telling the German tourist to "come through big dog."
Fans flooded his mentions with messages of patriotic support. "You’re an adopted American now, and that means this," wrote user @Mojo7559. "30% of Americans are gonna hate you, at least half of Europe is going to hate you, 80% of Canada and Australia hate you. Your job is to not give a shit, you’re American now. Live on!! Screw those ankle biters."
Another added: "Freddy You should Never apologize for Loving the United States. Most of Us born in America will Defend this Country till the day We Die no matter how the elitist global media portrays Americans... The USA is the Greatest Country on Earth ! Cheers"
Tiger Town Welcomes Freddy
Taking Charlotte FC up on their offer to visit the Queen City, Freddy made a brilliant call. Freddy took Charlotte FC up on their invite to the Queen City, but he made the smartest call of his trip by stopping off in Clemson on his way through the South.
When Freddy rolled into Clemson, his social feeds lit up with snapshots of him taking in the sights around Memorial Stadium, still hiding behind that Ronaldo emoji. He was blown away by the size of Death Valley—81,500 seats of pure college football history. No game day in July, but Clemson fans made sure he found Howard’s Rock, one of the most iconic traditions in all of sports.
