Spending his last three seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, former Clemson infielder Weston Wilson was claimed on waivers by an AL East team.

The former Clemson Tiger. Wilson will be taking his talents from the City of Brotherly Love to Baltimore, Maryland, as the Baltimore Orioles claimed Wilson off of waivers at the end of January. In three major league seasons, Wilson has posted a slash line of .242/.328/.428, which was good enough for a .756 OPS across 103 games in three major league seasons.

After completing his three-year career at Clemson, Wilson was selected in the 17th round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. During his 175 games played in a Clemson uniform, Wilson was a career .260/.330/.387 hitter, posting a career .717 OPS in three seasons with Clemson.

The High Point, North Carolina, native played at least 40 games at both third base and second base while at Clemson. Wilson also recorded one game playing shortstop, showing his ability to be moved around the infield. Wilson parlayed a strong junior season with his ability to fill a utility spot to earn a late-round draft pick in the 2026 MLB Draft.

In his junior season, 2016, Wilson posted a collegiate career best in average (.279), on-base percentage (.343), slugging percentage (.434), OPS (.777), home runs (7), doubles (12), triples (3), RBIS (45), stolen bases (8), and total bases (109). The High Point native’s 2016 season was good enough to land him a 17th-round draft pick for the Brewers.

Since making his major league debut in 2023, Wilson has seen games at third base, second base, first base, left field, right field, and even center field at the big-league level.

As a versatile fielder, the Orioles have landed a right-handed hitter who can play almost anywhere on the field. Wilson fills the utility role of a major league team nicely.
