‘He’s Found the Groove’: Hall of Famer Breaks Down Trevor Lawrence’s Surge

For the first time in a while, everything is slowing down for Trevor Lawrence — and the results have been historic.

The former Clemson star is coming off the best performance of his professional career after accounting for six total touchdowns in a dominant 48–20 win for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Lawrence threw a career-high five touchdown passes, added another score on the ground, and became the first player in NFL history to post five passing TDs, one rushing TD, and 50-plus rushing yards in a single game.

The numbers were eye-popping. The efficiency was unmistakable. And according to a Hall of Fame quarterback who’s been watching closely, the reasons behind the surge are finally lining up.

Finding the Rhythm

Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner recently broke down what he’s seeing from Lawrence — and why this version looks different.

“He’s playing really well,” Warner said. “Earlier in the season, he talked about still getting his feet under him in this offense — not just the passing game, but the run checks and the overall structure. He felt like he was getting there, but not quite there yet.”

Now? That process looks complete.

“It sure feels like he’s found that groove,” Warner said. “The last three or four weeks, I think he’s played some of his best football. If you asked me who had the best quarterback performance this past week, he’d be No. 1.”

When Even the Misses Work

What stands out most to Warner isn’t just the stat line — it’s how Lawrence is playing within the offense.

“It’s one of those scenarios where even when he’s a little bit wrong, it’s right right now,” Warner explained. “There was a touchdown where he came off the backside a little early, but the defender fell off, and he zipped it in perfectly. Even when the read wasn’t perfect, the throw was.”

That confidence, timing, and decisiveness are finally syncing. And when they do, Warner says Lawrence’s ceiling is obvious.

“We’ve all seen the flashes,” Warner said. “When it all goes right, this kid has everything you could want in an elite quarterback. The difference now is he’s putting it all together.”

A Resurgence Years in the Making

Lawrence’s NFL journey hasn’t been linear. The expectations were massive. The early success came quickly. Then came injuries, inconsistency, and stretches where the offense never fully clicked.

This season has felt different — especially lately.

Over the last three games, Lawrence has thrown for 803 yards and nine touchdowns, added 92 rushing yards and a rushing score, and — for the first time in his career — gone three straight games without a turnover. His 136.7 passer rating in the latest win marked a career high.

Those performances earned him AFC Offensive Player of the Week, but more importantly, they’ve reset the narrative.

“So now the question becomes, can he sustain it?” Warner said. “But right now, the offense is being dialed up well, and Trevor Lawrence is locked in and throwing the football extremely well.”

What Comes Next

Lawrence and Jacksonville have won five straight games and sit atop their division heading into a marquee matchup this weekend against the Denver Broncos.

Whether this stretch becomes a defining turning point remains to be seen. But for the first time in a long time, Lawrence looks like a quarterback playing free — confident, decisive, and in complete control.

And when that happens, the ceiling changes.
