If you’re still doubting greatness, you haven’t been paying attention.

If you bled orange during the Deshaun Watson era, you know what real magic looks like. For two years, it’s been tough watching our guy—the same Tiger who toppled Bama and made Death Valley his own—fight through injury after injury and endless doubters. But now, with 2026 on the horizon, Deshaun is healthy again, and the league is about to get a reminder of what a Clemson legend can do.

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the buzz in Cleveland is shifting. While the national media has spent months obsessing over the Browns' younger options, the Clemson legend is quietly moving toward reclaiming his spot at the top of the depth chart.

A Fresh Start in Cleveland

The comeback started with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam giving Deshaun his stamp of approval. With Todd Monken now calling the shots, Cleveland is setting the table for an offense that could look a whole lot like the fireworks we saw in the Upstate.

“Deshaun has a great chance, fresh start, offensive-minded coach, who has in his past been able to work with all kinds of different quarterbacks and make them successful,” Haslam said. “So, Deshaun has a great chance to do that now. We talked to him the other day, he said he weighs the [least] he has in several years. He’s in great shape, he’ll be [in Cleveland] on April 7 when we start. Let’s see what Deshaun can do. We’re all excited.”

Seeing Deshaun lean, quick, and fired up again should have every AFC North rival sweating. Tiger fans know exactly what happens when No. 4 is healthy and hungry.

Silencing the Noise

Despite the injuries that sidelined him for the 2025 campaign, the consensus among those who know the game is that you don't keep a three-time Pro Bowler down for long. Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Adam Schefter made it clear that Watson is the biggest story nobody is talking about—yet.

“I think that’s been one of the least talked about, biggest stories going into the season – the fact that Deshaun Watson could wind up being the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns,” Schefter said. “I think that’s absolutely on the table. It feels like it’s moving towards that right now. Now, Todd Monken comes in, and who knows exactly what he’s going to do. But they’re going to take a look at everybody.”

Let’s be real: Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel are talented, but neither of them has a national championship ring or 123 NFL touchdowns. That’s Tiger territory.

The Ultimate Redemption

When Deshaun is out there, the numbers speak for themselves: 66.2% completions, almost 18,000 yards. The injuries in Cleveland? Just bad luck, not a limit on what he can do.

Heading into the last year of his deal, this isn’t about contracts or missed games. This is about Tiger heart. Deshaun isn’t just battling for a starting spot—he’s out to prove that the same guy who owned the ACC is ready to do it again.

April 7 is just the beginning. By September, the redemption tour will be in full swing. Clemson never lost faith in Deshaun. Now it’s the world’s turn to believe.
