Following his first season with Clemson basketball, Asa Thomas decided to hit the transfer portal.

The former three-star and No. 216 overall recruit in the 2023 class redshirted as a freshman and then played sparingly this past season, averaging just 1.2 points and 0.2 rebounds in 2.3 minutes per game. He also only appeared in 12 games so he was quite literally the team's 12th man.

The decision to transfer wasn't shocking even though some fans had high hopes for him when he committed to the Tigers in the first place. He has since been portaling.

On Monday, however, the former Clemson forward picked a new home and it's actually a solid landing spot that puts him in a better position than Del Jones who committed to Radford last week.

That's right, Thomas is headed to Furman to play his next year of college ball, according to Jeff Goodman. And this is a good fit for him as the Paladins were 25-10 last season and finished in fifth place in the SoCon. He could help them get back to the top of the conference but this is a sneaky good league with UNC Greensboro, Samford, and Chattanooga all leading the way.

Thomas will be tested game in and game out.

While it never quite worked out at Clemson, I'm sure all Tiger fans are wishing him well and hoping that he finds success with Furman where he could make a name for himself and transfer back to the high-major level in a year or two.

All but one transfer out of Clemson have found new homes. The only uncommitted Clemson transfer left is Jake Heidbreder as Jones (Radford), Chauncey Wiggins (Florida State), and Thomas (Furman) are locked in with new programs.
