The Summer of Commitment just cranked up a notch for Dabo Swinney and Mike Reed, and Tiger fans everywhere should be paying attention.

After flipping the recruiting world on its head with a surprise decommitment from Alabama, three-star corner Nash Johnson out of Powder Springs, Georgia, has circled June 24 as his big decision day. The best news? Clemson is still standing, right there in Johnson’s Final 6 with Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Tennessee, and Ole Miss. The Tide are out, but the Tigers are very much in the hunt.

The "Mike Reed" Move

Clemson pounced the moment Johnson reopened his recruitment. Coach Mike Reed wasted zero time, rolling out the orange carpet with an offer during Johnson’s unofficial visit just two weeks ago. Johnson wants a place that feels like home, and Reed is making sure Clemson is front and center in that conversation.

Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing in at 175 pounds, Johnson brings that classic Georgia-bred athleticism that Mike Reed has molded into NFL talent time and time again. He looks like the next Tiger lockdown corner in the making.

The Battle for the Visit

The Tigers are in for a fight here. Auburn is the trendy pick to keep Johnson close to home, and he’s set to visit the Plains the same weekend Clemson hosts its Elite Retreat on May 29. It’s a classic recruiting showdown, and you can bet the Clemson staff is pulling out all the stops.

But here’s the twist: Johnson told On3 he’s still trying to carve out time for a trip to the Upstate before his decision. If the Tigers can get him back on campus—even for a quick midweek visit—momentum could swing hard in Clemson’s favor.

Why It Matters for the 2027 Class

Right now, Clemson’s 2027 secondary class is anchored by hometown standout Christian Chancellor Jr., but adding Johnson would be a game-changer for the Tigers’ recruiting profile.

  • The Standings: Clemson currently sits 3rd in the ACC recruiting rankings, trailing only Miami and Louisville.
  • The Impact: A commitment from Johnson would likely leapfrog the Tigers into the ACC's top spot and push their national ranking back toward the Top 10.
