It wasn't the most memorable day if you're a Clemson basketball fan, but the Tigers still managed to make some noise late in Thursday afternoon's game to nearly pull off a wild comeback against McNeese, ultimately falling 69-67 in the first big upset of the day.

The Tigers had 13 points at halftime which makes their 54 second-half points that much more impressive but the effort fell just short as McNeese's stout defense made just enough plays in the first half and down the stretch to hold on. They almost coughed up the game because of their struggles against the full-court press, but the Cowboys advance to play Purdue on Saturday.

And Clemson alum Will Wade continues to coach McNeese despite taking the NC State job.

Wild stuff.

Not only is Wade a familiar face in this loss, but former Clemson guard Vernon Hamilton is on his staff at McNeese and got to beat his former team. It was just a lackluster first half that was the difference and Brad Brownell now has all offseason to think about what he needs to fix moving forward.

Fans took to social media to react to this shocking loss. Rival fans loved it, Clemson fans... obviously didn't. Let's take a look at some of the best reactions on X.

Honestly, Clemson deserves all of the trolling that it's about to get over the next 24 hours or until another team goes down against a double-digit seed because they lost to a team that just found out their coach was leaving. It doesn't get much worse than that.

On to the offseason.
