Around here, "Wide Receiver U" isn't just something we say—it's who we are. Dabo Swinney knows it, and he's locked in on the next Tiger to carry that torch. On Tuesday, Clemson made a statement when four-star Memphis star Lawrence Britt trimmed his list to six, and the Tigers are right where they belong: leading the pack over Ole Miss, Arkansas, Missouri, Florida, and Texas Tech.

Britt, a 6-foot-1 playmaker from Lausanne Collegiate, shot straight to the top of Clemson’s wish list after lighting it up at the Elite Retreat in March. That trip wasn’t just another stop—it was the kind of visit that sticks with a kid. Britt couldn’t stop raving about his time in Tigertown, and you can tell the Clemson family made a real impact.

A Master of All Trades

Pop on Britt’s film and it jumps off the screen why Clemson is all-in. This kid does it all—he’s the definition of a Swiss Army knife. Last season, he piled up 696 yards through the air, 299 on the ground, and found the end zone 17 times. Defenses never know what’s coming, and you can bet ACC coordinators are already sweating the thought of him in orange.

ESPN has Britt at No. 136 overall and the No. 6 wideout in the 2027 class, but Rivals is even higher—No. 69 in the nation. The SEC big boys are coming hard, but let’s be honest: there’s nothing like the Clemson culture. The question isn’t who wants him. It’s whether anyone can match what the Tigers have to offer.

The May 29 Milestone

This race isn’t finished, but Clemson is out front heading into the summer’s biggest weekend. Britt will be back in the Upstate for the official visit May 29-31, and that’s the one that matters. He’ll check out Missouri, Florida, Ole Miss, and Texas Tech after, but getting him on campus first lets the Tigers set the tone—and nobody else is matching that.

Britt is still right at the top of Clemson’s board, alongside studs like Tae Walden and Jamarin Simmons. If the Tigers lock down the No. 2 player in Tennessee, this 2027 class won’t just have talent—it’ll have fireworks.
