The national pundits are finally waking up to what we in Death Valley have known for weeks: Dabo Swinney is building an absolute monster.

After a relentless, white-hot run on the recruiting trail through July and early August, Clemson’s 2027 class has blasted up to No. 6 in the latest 247Sports team rankings. That’s right where the Tigers belong—back among the true giants of college football.

A Recruiting Tsunami Hits the Valley.

Not long ago, the so-called experts had Clemson written off and sitting outside the top tier. But after a tidal wave of commitments, the Tigers have stormed up the boards, now sitting at No. 11 in the industry rankings from On3 and Rivals.

Clemson now boasts a jaw-dropping 19 commitments for 2027, with 12 top prospects choosing to wear the paw in just the last two weeks. That kind of surge flips the national narrative on its head and puts Dabo’s Tigers right back in the thick of the recruiting power conversation—where we belong.

Building the Trenches.

The momentum only picked up steam on Monday, as two huge pieces joined the family. Tight end Nicholas Pollack and four-star offensive tackle J.J. Brown both made it official—they’re Tigers.

Brown is the ideal anchor for what’s shaping up to be a nasty, physical offensive line haul. He joins a tough-as-nails crew of future trench warriors—Luke Starcevic, Carter Jones, and Elijah Morrison. And on defense, Desmond Malpress is still the headliner, a true game-changer who gives this class its bite.

Sustaining the Magic.

This rocket ride up the rankings matters—it puts Clemson right back where we’re supposed to be, and there’s still plenty of time left in the cycle. Classes can shift before signing day, but the Tigers have built a foundation that’s as solid as Howard’s Rock.

The only thing standing in the way now is avoiding the late-cycle drama that tripped up the 2026 group. Last year’s class was still strong, but the mission this time is clear: keep this summer’s elite haul together from start to finish.

Right now, Clemson’s recruiting momentum is pure orange and purple magic. With one of the biggest and most loaded classes in the country, don’t be shocked if these Tigers claw their way all the way to the top before the 2027 cycle wraps up.
