When the Atlanta Falcons snagged Clemson’s own Avieon Terrell in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, it was just confirmation of what every Tiger in Death Valley already knew: Atlanta just landed the steal of the draft.

Swinney’s seen plenty of elite DBs make the leap to the league, but you could hear the pride in his voice. The Falcons didn’t just get a good one—they got a Tiger who should have been off the board way before Thursday night’s second round.

A First-Round Talent at a Second-Round Price

"It feels good and all that," Swinney said on 92.9 The Game. "But let me tell you, this is a baller. This is a high first-round talent that they got in the second round. And so I'm, it's a high-value pick."

Anyone who watched Terrell shut down ACC receivers in orange knows exactly what kind of value Swinney’s talking about. He brought the same fire as his brother AJ—already a Falcons star—but Dabo made it clear: Avieon’s about to carve out his own legacy in Atlanta, and he’s ready to do it right now.

An Instant Playmaker for the ATL

Swinney didn’t mince words about what Terrell brings to Atlanta’s defense. He pointed straight to Avieon’s versatility and football IQ as the secret sauce that sets him apart.

"He's, he's an instant, you know, playmaker," Swinney said. "He's ready to play. He's incredibly smart, understands the game. He's got, he's got great, you know, short area quickness."

The Ultimate Defensive Chess Piece

While plenty of rookies get lost in the NFL shuffle, Swinney sees Avieon as a plug-and-play weapon thanks to his toughness and versatility.

"He can cover, like I said, play three positions," Swinney noted. "He's a tackler. He's physical and still just developing."

When a coach who built a dynasty on grit and “Best is the Standard” gives you the stamp of approval, you know you’ve got something special. The Falcons aren’t just adding a corner—they’re getting a certified baller who’s ready to hunt from the jump.
