Anyone thinking this summer in Tiger Town would be quiet clearly hasn't been paying attention to Dabo Swinney. From the ACC Spring Meetings, Dabo lit a fire under the program with a message that every Clemson fan can rally behind: this team is salty and competitive, and they're coming for everything.

According to Swinney, the 2026 Tigers aren't just talented; they’re tough. "They’re salty. Salty. Salty and competitive. Tough group," Swinney told the ACC Network. "We’ve got good ingredients, but we’ve got to put it together."

The QB Battle: Vizzina vs. The "Elite" Freshman

But let's get to the real headline out of Florida: the quarterback battle. Most folks figured Christopher Vizzina (CV) was the guy, but Dabo just threw the door wide open for a summer showdown. Enter Tait Reynolds, the spring enrollee who's already turning heads.

Swinney didn't mince words about Reynolds, calling him an "elite talent" and making it clear he's already pulled ahead of the rest of the backup crew.

"Elite talent. This kid is really, really high-level talent," Swinney said. "Great arm talent. He's big. He can really run. He's a 220+ pound kid, a sub-4.5 (40-time) guy, and, again, just ready-made physically. And then mentally, really took a big step and kind of separated himself. We had CV (), and then we had a group of four that we needed to try to figure out, and he just separated. So, now we've got these two with some clarity, and they'll compete all the way through.

"Super-excited. It just brings great competition, which is what we need."

Fixing a "Jacked-Up" System

Off the field, Dabo is just as fired up. He’s pushing hard for big changes to the NCAA, with his top priority being the "5-for-5" eligibility model. That would give players five years to play five seasons and finally put an end to the redshirt confusion.

Dabo also didn’t hold back on the chaos in college football’s calendar and recruiting. "We have a jacked-up calendar in college football," he said. "It really just doesn't make any sense at all. We need to clean that up. And hopefully whether it's recruiting periods, dead periods, who can go out, when they go out, there's just so many different moving parts to it. So that's something that we need to get cleaned up."
