Clemson just keeps winning where it matters most: in the trenches. With the summer official visit weekend about to kick off, Dabo Swinney and Matt Luke have pulled off another recruiting coup, adding a big-time piece to the 2027 class before the party even starts.

Elijah Morrison, a three-star interior offensive lineman, slammed the door on his recruitment Thursday night and picked the Tigers over heavy hitters like Georgia, Auburn, and Florida State. Instead of dragging things out, Morrison made it clear: he wanted to be a Tiger, and he wanted everyone to know it before the weekend even got underway.

"Coach Luke was a big part of it…I love Coach Swinney," Morrison told 247Sports upon announcing his decision.

A 305-Pound Anchor for Matt Luke

Morrison, out of Dacula, Georgia, is the kind of physical presence Clemson fans dream about anchoring the offensive line. At 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, he brings the size, strength, and edge you need to bully defenses in the Power Four. This is the type of lineman who sets the tone for years to come.

The recruiting services and his high school resume both back it up: Morrison is a must-have for any program.

  • Rivals’ Industry Ranking: Evaluates Morrison as a top-25 interior offensive line prospect in the entire 2027 class.
  • Peach State Target: Ranks as the No. 38 overall player in the talent-dense state of Georgia.
  • Junior Campaign Accolades: Earned First Team All-Region honors anchor-blocking for a high-powered offense just outside of Atlanta.

This was recruiting done the Clemson way. Swinney brought Morrison in for an unofficial visit in March, showed him what makes this place special, and then made it official with an offer in May. From there, it was only a matter of time before Morrison jumped on board. The momentum was all orange.

The Matt Luke Effect Strikes Again

Talk about perfect timing. Just as word got out that Reed Ramsier was canceling his visit, the staff wasted no time and locked up Morrison. Clemson keeps the momentum rolling, and the rest of the country is left playing catch-upng its spot as the No. 15 best class in the country. More importantly, Morrison joins blue-chip Virginia standout Carter Jones to give Coach Luke a devastating, tone-setting duo of interior drive-blockers to anchor the class.

Morrison’s official visit from May 29 to 31 just got a new mission. Instead of being recruited, he’ll be doing the recruiting, helping Clemson lock down more top talent. Georgia and Florida State can forget about getting him on campus. Now, Morrison and Jones will be working hard to bring in guys like JJ Brown, Luke Starcevic, and Nate Carson when they hit campus this weekend.

Get ready for a weekend full of fireworks in Death Valley. Matt Luke is building a wall up front, and every other program in the country just got put on notice.
