Get ready for a significant jump in performance from Clemson's sophomore class of wide receivers. Wide Receivers Coach Tyler Grisham is predicting a "night and day different" season for his second-year players, attributing the expected leap to both physical maturation and a crucial mental breakthrough.
"I really, I mean, I know they had great years as true freshmen, but I just think it'll be night and day different for them," Grisham stated at Media Day. He emphasized their physical growth: "Physically they're already in a much better place than they were a year ago, and they would say the same thing. I mean, that's not even close."
Beyond the physical, Grisham highlighted the mental aspect of their development. "I think, too, just the muscle memory of what we do and not having to think and just now going and playing and reacting more consistently for those guys is going to be a big jump for them." He noted that for some, the game is finally "starting to slow down."
Furthermore, these players have a clear understanding of where they need to improve technically. "From a technical standpoint, those guys know what they had to get better at, what we asked them to do, and so, you know, they're trying to master their craft as well."
The combination of physical development, mental clarity, and a commitment to refining their skills has Grisham confident that his sophomores are poised for a massive leap. This "night and day" difference could provide a significant boost to the Clemson offense this season.
