Key Storylines

Coaching Legends Collide
This marks the first-ever meeting between Clemson’s Dabo Swinney and UNC’s Bill Belichick — two giants of the coaching world. It’s only the second time in college football history a multi–national championship coach has faced a multi–Super Bowl champion coach.

Swinney’s 300th Game
Saturday is Swinney’s 300th game with Clemson (including time as an assistant). He joins Frank Howard and Bob Jones in Clemson’s rare 300-game club.

Tigers Seeking a Reset
At 1-3, Clemson is desperate for its first ACC win after dropping back-to-back league games. The Tigers are 38-11 under Swinney following a loss and will try to extend that resilience on the road.

Series Dominance
Clemson leads the all-time series 40-19-1, winning nine of the last 10 matchups, including a 31-20 victory in 2023. The Tigers are riding a six-game win streak over the Tar Heels.

What to Watch

Can Clemson’s defense reach 1,500 tackles for loss since 2012? They need just nine more.

Will Cade Klubnik and the offense string together back-to-back 400-yard games for the first time this season?

Can the Tigers extend their national-best streak of scoring at least one rushing touchdown in 90 of their last 100 games?
