There may not be a more important game the rest of the way for the Clemson Tigers. On Saturday, they will welcome the Virginia Tech Hokies into Death Valley for a primetime kickoff. This will be the first time James Franklin has ever coached at Clemson. With this game featuring a pair of two-loss teams out of the ACC, expect for this game to play with our emotions for the entire 60 minutes or so.

Clemson is 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in ACC play. The Tigers have wins over Georgia Southern, North Carolina, Cal, and Charleston Southern, but have suffered losses to LSU and Miami. Simply put, the Tigers have the record everyone probably expected them to have at the halfway point. As for Virginia Tech, the Hokies are 5-2 on the season, but have a propensity of giving up second-half leads.

Here are the latest betting odds, how to watch, and a final score prediction of this game in question.

Latest betting odds for Clemson Tigers vs. Virginia Tech Hokies

According to the FanDuel Sportsbook, Clemson will be laying 2.5 points at home to visiting Virginia Tech. The associated moneylines for this game are Clemson -140 and Virginia Tech +116. This means you would need to wager $140 on Clemson to win $100. Conversely, if you were to place a $100 bet on Virginia Tech, you would pocket $116. The point spread suggests an incredibly close league game.

The projected point total for this game comes in at a combined 49.5 points. If we were to factor in the 2.5-point spread, a potential final score for this game would be Clemson 26, Virginia Tech 23. With this game expected to be decided by less than a field goal, look for every possession to matter. Given that Clemson is the home team, that is why the Tigers are seen as the slightest of favorites coming in.

Clemson Tigers vs. Virginia Tech Hokies game prediction

Despite rarely playing each other all that much within the context of ACC play, we should be getting an incredibly compelling game in this one. Look for both teams to play well in all three phases. Clemson may have the edge on defense and special teams, but Virginia Tech arguably has the upper hand on the offensive side of the ball. Look for this tight game to be decided by only one possession.

With it potentially being a chess match between Franklin and Tom Allen, this game might actually be won while Clemson is on offense and Virginia Tech is on defense. Because Clemson is the far more reliable team in the second half, look for Gideon Davidson to deliver the knockout punch on a well-orchestrated drive by Tait Reynolds. He will have finally played his best game in a Clemson uniform.

After this win, Clemson might very well end up being the fourth best team in the entire conference.

Week 8 final score prediction: Clemson 24, Virginia Tech 18.
