Here is your Clemson sports weekend update for February 24, 2025.

Clemson baseball has perfect weekend at home

The Clemson baseball team opened its home slate over the weekend and showed why the Tigers are considered a threat to reach Omaha and the College World Series. Going 4-0 in the Clemson Baseball Invitational, the Tigers moved to 6-1 on the season.

Friday, the Tigers picked up a 6-2 win over Virginia Commonwealth. In that game, Aidan Knaak and Drew Titsworth combined to pitch all nine innings striking out 13 hitters between them. Knaak picked up the win after tossing the first five innings.

Saturday, in the first of two games on the day, the Tigers rallied past North Carolina A&T for a 12-7 win. Trailing 6-3 entering the bottom of the third inning, the home team erupted for five runs in that frame to take the lead for good. On the day, eight Tigers drove in a run with Tristan Bissetta and Tryston McCladdie each driving home two.

In the second game of the day, Clemson snuck past VCU 4-3. The Tigers scored all four of their runs in the third inning and held on for the tight victory.

Wrapping up the weekend with another tight contest, Clemson beat North Carolina A&T 4-2 on Sunday. Dominic Listi was the hero as his run-scoring double in the seventh inning broke a 2-2 tie and lifted his team to the win.

Next, the homestand continues as the Tigers host Winthrop on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Eastern. Then, on Friday, they host South Carolina at 7 p.m.

Clemson softball goes 4-0 over the weekend

It was also a great weekend for the Clemson softball team. Going 4-0 on the weekend, the Tigers moved to 9-6 overall on the season.

Friday, Clemson topped Elon 4-3. After trailing 2-0 in the first inning and 3-2 in the fifth, Maddie Moore's 2-RBI single in the sixth inning proved to be the game's decisive moment.

In game two on Friday, the Tigers had to work an extra inning to beat Villanova 1-0 in eight frames. Julia Knowler came up with the game's only RBI when she drove home Moore on a single to walk it off.

Such dramatics were not needed on Saturday in an 8-3 win over Marshall. In the third inning, the Tigers plated five runs, and then, in the sixth, both teams scored three times. Aby Viera had a big game, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, one RBI, and one run scored.

Sunday, Clemson blew out Marshall 8-0 in a game that was called after five innings. Clemson scored three times in the first and the fifth innings and Reese Basinger threw a complete game as the Tigers rolled.

Next, Clemson takes on Georgia at home on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. Eastern.

Clemson gymnastics performs well but falls to No. 16 Stanford

The Clemson gymnastics had its best day of the season thus far but still came up short as No. 16 Stanford claimed a 196.925-196.575 victory on Sunday afternoon in Littlejohn Coliseum. In the loss, Clemson set a season-high in points but came up just short of the win.

Next, Clemson remains at home with a tri-meet on February 29 against UNH and TWU for its Military Appreciation Meet. Action is slated to begin at 5 p.m. on ACCNX.

Clemson men's tennis picks up two wins on Sunday

The Clemson men's tennis team was nearly flawless in picking up a pair of wins on Sunday. The Tigers dismissed UNC Wilmington 4-0 and Furman 4-1.

Clemson will be at home this coming weekend for two sets of matches. Friday, Louisville comes to town while Sunday, Notre Dame will come calling. Overall, the Tigers are 10-1 this spring and now they look to begin ACC play on the right foot.
