Clemson softball continues to make history.

After securing its third Super Regional berth in four years, John Rittman and the Tigers won Game 1 against Texas on Thursday night, 7-4, which ran into Friday morning. This was the first Super Regional win in program history -- you have to remember the varsity program is just six years old.

With the win, Clemson is one win away from tying the program record of 49 which was set by Rittman's 2023 team that also made the Super Regional and got swept.

Thursday's win over Texas was a long-awaited one, and not just because the Tigers had never won a Super Regional game in their history, but also because it came after a 90-minute weather delay.

Clemson held a 3-2 lead heading into the sixth inning and it knew it had to generate some runs to get a cushion against a really good Texas team that ranks No. 6 in the country. The Longhorns weren't going down without a fight, so Clemson needed to conjure up some momentum and it did just that in the top of the inning with four runs, highlighted by a Julia Knowler double to make it 7-2.

Texas would add two runs in response in the bottom of the inning, but the three-run cushion would be enough as Brooke McCubbin shut the door in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win.

The second game of this best-of-three series will be on Friday evening at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN 2. Tune in to see if the Tigers can make their first-ever Women's College World Series.
