On Tuesday afternoon, the Tigers stormed into Georgia and landed a big-time commitment from rising three-star tight end Carter Blackwell, keeping the recruiting train rolling full steam ahead.
The Lee County standout slammed the door on his recruitment, picking Clemson over heavy hitters like Florida State, Duke, UCF, and a host of other big-name programs. Once the Tigers came calling, it was only a matter of time.
Blackwell’s pledge is the fifth commitment for the Tigers in just eight days, turning this week into an all-out recruiting blitz that Tiger fans won’t soon forget. This is the kind of run that makes the rest of the country take notice.

A High-Upside Weapon for the Passing Game
Clemson’s coaches saw something special in Blackwell from the jump, offering him back in April. Tight ends coach Kyle Richardson and OC Chad Morris wasted no time making him feel like family, building a bond that made Tuesday’s commitment feel inevitable.
The Georgia native took to social media to announce his decision, sharing a message rooted in faith and excitement:
“I give all glory to God for every opportunity, lesson, and blessing along the way. I’m excited to continue my academic and athletic career at Clemson University.”
It’s no wonder the Tigers circled Blackwell as a must-get. As a junior at Lee County, he was a nightmare matchup for defenses, stretching the field and racking up 24 catches for 438 yards and five touchdowns. That’s a jaw-dropping 18.25 yards per grab—numbers you just don’t see from most tight ends.
The 2027 Masterpiece Reaches 12 Pledges
With Blackwell now All In, Clemson’s 2027 class is up to a dozen strong and building a tidal wave of momentum as we head into a summer that’s shaping up to be huge for the Tigers.

Talk about perfect timing. Blackwell will be back in Tigertown this weekend (May 29–31) as Clemson throws open the doors for a massive recruiting weekend with over 30 official visitors. Now, instead of being the recruit, Blackwell gets to put on the orange and purple and help bring the next wave of stars home to Death Valley.
