Clemson’s bowl chase: 5 things to watch vs. Furman on senior day

Clemson looks to secure bowl eligibility, extend multiple streaks, and celebrate a record-setting senior class in a must-win showdown with Furman on Military Appreciation Day.

1. Bowl Eligibility on the Line

Clemson enters Saturday needing one more victory to clinch its 27th straight season of bowl eligibility — the fourth-longest streak in college football. A win gives Dabo Swinney’s program a sixth victory for the 27th consecutive year, putting the Tigers alongside Ohio State, Georgia, and Oklahoma as the only teams nationally with that consistency.

This is more than a formality. With South Carolina looming next week, locking this up now removes pressure and stabilizes a season defined by close finishes.

2. Cade Klubnik’s Climb Through Clemson History

Cade Klubnik’s statistical climb continues Saturday, and the milestones are piling up. He needs just 163 passing yards to pass Charlie Whitehurst for fourth on Clemson’s all-time list, and he enters the game with 100 straight passes without an interception.

He’s also one win away from tying Whitehurst for the fifth-most wins by a Clemson starting quarterback since World War II. If Clemson explodes offensively, Klubnik could reach multiple milestones in a single afternoon.

3. Adam Randall’s Breakout Season Rolls On

Randall has become one of the ACC’s most versatile weapons. He’s one of only five players nationally with at least eight rushing TDs and three receiving TDs, and he’s coming off back-to-back strong performances.

This week, he can:

  • Post consecutive 100-yard rushing games for the first time
  • Become the first Clemson RB with back-to-back multi-TD rushing games since Phil Mafah in 2024
  • Push closer to double-digit rushing scores, something Clemson has produced in 10 of the last 11 years

4. Sammy Brown, T.J. Parker & the Defensive Push

Clemson’s defense has surged during the four-game stabilization stretch, and several Tigers are on the verge of milestones:

  • Sammy Brown needs one more sack to match his career high and is looking for a sack in his third straight game.
  • T.J. Parker is two sacks away from breaking into Clemson’s top 10 all-time.
  • Clemson is closing in on 30 team sacks for the 14th straight season, the longest such streak in the country.

If this front controls Furman early, it could set the tone for another dominant defensive Saturday.

5. Senior Day & Military Appreciation — and One More Historic Streak

Beyond the football stakes, the emotional component will be strong.

Clemson will honor a senior class that has:

  • Won 35 games over the past four years
  • Captured multiple ACC titles
  • Logged eight AP Top 25 wins
  • Been ranked in nearly 63% of polls during their careers

And then there’s the dominance over Furman.

Clemson has won 32 straight against the Paladins — its longest active or all-time streak against any opponent. A win Saturday would extend that mark to 33 and preserve Clemson’s perfect 39-0 all-time record against FCS teams.
