After going seven full rounds without hearing his name called in the 2025 NFL Draft, Marcus Tate was expected to sign with a team shortly after, but it's been about 48 hours and he still hasn't been picked up by an organization.

To me, that's insane.

Before the draft last week, I did a projection of where I expected Clemson's top NFL Draft prospects to land, and I had Tate getting picked up in the later rounds and experts even agreed, many projecting him as a 6-7 rounder, at worst.

Now that it's been two days since the seventh round of the NFL Draft concluded, it feels weird to say that Tate still hasn't been picked up by a team because he has the tools to be a solid pro.

In fact, when you read his strengths and weaknesses on his NFL.com draft profile, he sounds like a guy who could contribute right away, especially at his size of 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds.

At the NFL Combine, he graded as the 10th-best guard at the NFL Combine this past winter and was 15th among all guards invited in terms of career production. But to be invited to the Combine and not even get signed as an undrafted free agent within 48 hours of the NFL Draft concluding is wild. There has to be a good deal being negotiated because that just doesn't make sense for a low-risk, high-reward guy like Tate.

I guess we'll just keep waiting for him to be signed, but this wait has already been about 47 hours too long.
