Former Clemson offensive lineman Zack Owens is back on the move as the NCAA transfer portal nears its closing window.
Owens, who began his college career with the Clemson Tigers, has entered the transfer portal again after spending the 2025 season at Mississippi State. It marks the third program Owens has been part of in as many seasons.
Owens saw his most consistent playing time last fall with the Mississippi State Bulldogs, appearing in all 13 games and earning extended action along the offensive line. He allowed just one sack during the season, a notable step forward after limited opportunities earlier in his career.
Before his stint in Starkville, Owens played the 2024 season at Colorado, where he appeared in 10 games primarily in a reserve role. His college journey began at Clemson in 2023, when he redshirted and saw action in two games, logging 13 offensive snaps as a true freshman.
Coming out of Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy in Georgia, Owens was regarded as one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the 2023 recruiting class. He was rated a top-200 national recruit by multiple services and earned an invitation to the All-American Bowl in San Antonio. Owens enrolled early at Clemson in January 2023 and was a health science major during his time with the program.
Now back in the portal with experience across three Power Five programs, Owens will look for a new destination where he can build on the steady playing time he earned in 2025 and find long-term stability for the next chapter of his college career.
