A former Clemson legend will be getting another chance in the NFL, signing with his third team in his professional career.
Isaiah Simmons signed with the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, Adam Schefter reported. Simmons will play for his third team in the NFL, after being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the 8th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The former Clemson Tiger also played two seasons with the New York Giants.

Simmons has logged 84 games (42 starts) over his five-year career in the NFL. Recording 329 tackles (226 solo tackles), 15 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, 21 passes defensed, nine forced fumbles, and five interceptions, Simmons has produced some quality numbers in his five seasons in the NFL.
Representing Clemson, Simmons was awarded the Butkus Award in 2019 as the nation’s best college linebacker. Simmons recorded 237 total tackles (148 solo tackles), 28.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, 19 pass breakups, and four interceptions from the linebacker position.
The 6’4” 238 238-pound linebacker will join the Panthers' practice squad, but with injuries to the Panthers' linebackers, Simmons should have a solid chance of cracking the 53-man roster for the Panthers before the season ends.
Clemson football fans should be excited to see a great former Tiger get another chance at the NFL. Hopefully, Simmons will take advantage of his opportunity and find a home with the Carolina Panthers squad.
