Dabo Swinney and the Tigers are cooking up something special with this 2027 recruiting class. Clemson’s staff is out-hustling the rest of the country, locking down elite talent before anyone else even knows what hit them.
Now, defensive lineman Segun Alexander has dropped his list of five summer official visits, and you better believe Clemson is right in the middle of this heavyweight fight. He’s set to tour Cal, Texas A&M, Clemson, Vanderbilt, and Notre Dame—but it’s that stop in Tigertown that could change everything.
Alexander’s recruitment has turned into one of the wildest stories in the Southeast. When he jumped up from the 2028 class to 2027, he sent shockwaves through college football—and put every top program on notice.

A 270-Pound Phenom on the Fast Track
At 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, Alexander is a physical freak who’s got every defensive coach in America drooling. The Georgia native made his move to the 2027 class after blowing up on the spring visit circuit. When coaches everywhere started lining up to take his commitment a year early, Alexander knew it was time to fast-track his future.
Rivals wasted no time bumping him up in the rankings, and he’s still sitting pretty as one of the top targets in the country:
- National Ranking:Â Slots in as the No. 318 overall prospect in the country.
- Position & State:Â Ranks as the No. 33 defensive lineman nationally and the No. 35 overall player in the talent-rich state of Georgia.
Clemson's Early Bird Advantage
Since Alexander’s reclassification, his phone hasn’t stopped buzzing. But here’s the difference: Clemson didn’t wait for the hype. Swinney and his staff brought him to campus for an unofficial in early April and put an offer on the table before anyone else even blinked.
That early show of faith made a real impact on Alexander, and now the Tigers have landed a prime spot right in the middle of his official visit schedule:
- Cal: May 29–31
- Texas A&M: June 5–7
- Clemson: June 12–14
- Vanderbilt: June 16–18
- Notre Dame: June 19–21
A Blockbuster Weekend in the Trenches
Alexander isn’t looking to rush things, but he’s made it clear: his recruitment will be locked up before his senior season even starts.
Clemson is ready to make the most of Alexander’s June 12–14 visit. In a stroke of genius, the staff lined up four-star defensive line target Seth Tillman to be on campus that same weekend. Tillman’s got Clemson in his final five and is set to announce on July 11.
If the Tigers can land both Alexander and Tillman in June, you can go ahead and pencil in Clemson’s defensive front as a brick wall for years to come.
