The rest of the country can keep talking about Clemson’s loaded 2027 class, but here in Tiger Town, Dabo Swinney is already a step ahead, making sure Death Valley stays the gold standard for elite defenders who want to play big-time football.
After another electric Dabo Swinney Football Camp that had Death Valley buzzing, the Tigers wasted no time expanding their 2028 defensive board, handing out offers to two of the most sought-after secondary studs in the country: safety Giovanni Tuggle and cornerback Domonic Williams Jr.
Tuggle Brings Elite Ball-Hawking Skills to Tiger Town
Giovanni Tuggle has been a nightmare for quarterbacks ever since he burst onto the scene as a freshman at Winder-Barrow High in Georgia. In just eight varsity games, he piled up 39 tackles, six picks, two pass breakups, and even took one to the house, forcing powerhouse programs like Georgia and Alabama to take notice.
Tuggle took his game to another level as a sophomore in 2025, racking up 74 tackles, four interceptions, and two more trips to the end zone. Rivals has him pegged as a four-star and the No. 5 safety in America, but now that Clemson is in the mix, the whole recruiting landscape just shifted for this Peach State playmaker.
Tuggle made his excitement known on social media, posting:
"#AGTG after a great camp and great conversation with Coach Swinney I’m blessed and beyond grateful to receive an offer from Clemson University @CoachDeMasi @Coach_Pickett4 @CoachTA44 @nolanturner02 @FBCoachPineda @WBDoggsFB @ErikRichardsUSA @ChadSimmons_ @RustyMansell_"

Tigers Formidable Front-Runners for Lockdown Corner Williams
Out on the edge, Clemson is sitting pretty to reel in one of the best corners in the 2028 class. Domonic Williams Jr. made sure everyone in the Southeast knew his name last fall, leading Jacksonville High to a 12-1 record and a deep playoff run.
The 6-foot, 185-pounder locked down his side of the field with 45 tackles, 16 pass breakups, and three interceptions in 2025. Rivals calls him a four-star, the No. 47 player in the country, and the No. 3 prospect in North Carolina.
Right now, Clemson is the clear frontrunner for Williams, holding a commanding 63.5% edge in the Rivals Prediction Machine. After showing out at camp, Williams made his excitement known with a post:
"Blessed to earn an offer from @ClemsonFB!! 🐅 #AGTG @CoachTA44 @CUCoachReed @CoachMHouston @PaulStrelowTI @ClemsonInsider @nolanturner02 @JP_Priester @gray_mann21 @ChadSimmons_ @Clemson247 @AnnaH247"
Tuggle and Williams are the first two secondary offers for Clemson’s 2028 class, and it’s just more proof that Dabo and his staff are locked in on keeping the Tiger defense nasty for years to come.
