With EA Sports’ College Football 27 dropping July 9, Clemson fans everywhere are already dissecting the first wave of player ratings like it’s National Signing Day.
At quarterback, the ratings mirror the real-life intrigue. Sophomore Christopher Vizzina leads the pack with a 75 overall, just a tick down from last year, but don’t count out four-star freshman Tait Reynolds, who’s right on his heels at 74. The battle for QB1 is going to be must-watch, both on the sticks and on the field.
While the quarterbacks duke it out, the defense is pure Tiger dominance. Edge terror Will Heldt and linebacker phenom Sammy Brown are the only two Tigers to crack the 90s, both sitting at a rock-solid 90 overall. Brown’s digital rep is already sky-high, coming in as the fourth-best linebacker in the entire game. That’s the kind of star power that wins championships—virtual or real.
The defensive backbone gets even stronger with Ashton Hampton locking down the secondary at 86 overall and Vic Burley anchoring the line at 85. That’s a wall any offense will dread facing.
Dabo’s bold moves in the portal are already paying off in the digital world. Newcomer Corey Myrick steps in with an 86 overall at safety, and Jerome Carter isn’t far behind at 83. The back end of this defense is loaded for bear.
On offense, the Tigers just got a blast of pure speed. SMU transfer Chris Johnson Jr. brings an 83 overall and a jaw-dropping 96 speed rating—good luck catching him in the open field. And don’t sleep on Elliot Washington, the Penn State transfer, who’s right there with a 95 speed and 82 overall. This team can flat-out fly.
And just to top it off, true freshman wideout Naeem Burroughs comes in with an 82 overall, giving the Tigers another explosive weapon right out of the gate. There’s no shortage of firepower in this year’s virtual Clemson squad.
