Friday marks the start of official visit season in college football and for Clemson football fans, it's a chance to speculate about who will be the next recruits to commit to the Tigers.
Dabo Swinney has been on fire lately on the recruiting trail and his 2026 class is currently ranked No. 5 in the country after a strong spring. He's landed some elite recruits over the past couple of months and he's sure to add to that impressive crop over the weekend with 30, or so, recruits on campus.
These visitors range from top-10 prospects in the country to three-stars and everything in between. But the top targets have been identified by fans and experts and they'll be watched closely.
One of those top targets is four-star offensive tackle Carter Scruggs from Leesburg, Va. Many fans are hoping he joins the class, but it's not going to be a walk in the park trying to beat out the likes of Georgia, Penn State, Michigan, and Oklahoma for his services. Clemson is in a good spot here, however, and one recruiting insider actually placed a crystal ball for the Tigers to land him on Thursday.
Clemson insider Austin Hannon placed a crystal ball with a confidence level of six for the Tigers to land Scruggs over the powerhouses listed above.
I liked Clemson's chances before but now I think the Tigers might be on commit watch this weekend despite Scruggs having trips to Michigan, Penn State, and Georgia planned for the following weeks.
Scruggs is ranked the No. 164 overall recruit and No. 9 interior offensive lineman in the 2026 class by 247Sports. He holds over 30 scholarship offers.
