Just days after receiving an offer from Clemson football, one 2027 four-star quarterback from SEC country has committed to the Tigers.

That's right, Dabo Swinney and Co. extended a few quarterback offers last weekend to some four-stars with promise which was rather surprising because it felt like four-star Louisiana-native Peyton Houston was their guy. He was the first offer in the 2027 class and camped out at Clemson before receiving that offer earlier this summer.

Swinney figured he couldn't put all his eggs in the same basket, so he extended three quarterback offers over the holiday weekend and that's already yielded a commitment.

On Thursday, four-star gunslinger Kharim Hughley committed to the Tigers.

Hughley is one of the recent four-star offerees and he also held offers from the likes of Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss, and South Carolina. He had a growing list of offers and he's from Gainesville, Fla., so the logical conclusion was that he would end up with the hometown Gators, but he opted to head up the coast to Clemson.

While Hughley isn't the biggest quarterback, standing just 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, his highlights are impressive given his elusiveness and ability to make plays with his arm and legs.

This doesn't mean that Clemson is out of the running for Houston, but it felt like Dabo was worried about missing out on his top target so he had to extend a few others to widen his net. He landed a good one and it wouldn't be all that surprising to see him take two quarterbacks in 2027.

Hughley is ranked the No. 190 overall recruit and 14th-best quarterback in the class on 247Sports while Houston is the No. 85 prospect and eighth-best passer.
