I can't remember the last time that position group rankings were this favorable to Clemson football, but it feels like every single major publication is buying stock in the Tigers this season.

Clemson has been labeled a serious national title contender by everyone from Joel Klatt to Paul Finebaum (no, that's not a typo). They've been regarded as having the nation's top defensive line as well as the No. 1 quarterback in college football. Everyone has been singing the praises of this team heading into the season, and Athlon Sports just jumped onto the bandwagon.

Athlon ranked its top 25 receiving corps in the nation heading into the 2025 season and Clemson came in near the top.

Just how high were the Tigers on Athlon's list? They were all the way up there at No. 2.

Who's No. 1? Well, that shouldn't be much of a surprise as everyone has been regarding Ohio State as WRU this offseason and they have yet another elite crop of targets, led by Jeremiah Smith.

Clemson can make a legitimate case for that top spot, though. While Ohio State has the best receiver in the country, Clemson arguably has the deepest room. Antonio Williams leads the way as a 1,000-yard candidate followed by talented second-year stars Bryant Wesco Jr. and TJ Moore. As if that wasn't enough, Tyler Brown looks like he's going to have a big comeback year and Tristan Smith is one of the most talented transfer wideouts in the ACC -- just look at what he did this spring.

This ranking is tough to argue with, but we might be talking about how Clemson's receiving corps out-performed Ohio State's come November. Having a better quarterback will help that case.
