We are a few days removed from five-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright's commitment as the top Clemson football target committed to Texas A&M, surprising many people.

While it is recruiting and nothing is truly surprising anymore, it was still interesting to see him go from Clemson lean to Texas A&M commit given the fact that the Tigers produce some of the most NFL defensive linemen of any program in America.

And yet Perry-Wright had the audacity to call Texas A&M the "new DL university".

Here's a quick debunking of that label as many fans did some quick research following that head-scratching quote and found that it has no backing. Clemson dominates the Aggies in terms of NFL defensive linemen, and the Tigers are likely sending two more to the league in 2026.

That "DLU" quote echoed throughout the Clemson campus as everyone was muttering it and laughing at how silly it sounded. It would've made more sense to say if Clemson wasn't one of his finalists and a program he dubbed one of his dream schools.

However, Clemson was a finalist and considered the favorite heading into decision day which makes the quote even more ridiculous.

Not only did fans take exception to Perry-Wright slapping Clemson in the face with that quote and his ultimate decision, but a couple of coaches got their licks in with a simple tweet (and retweet).

Assistant defensive ends coach and former Clemson All-American Da'Quan Bowers tweeted right after Perry-Wright's commitment that there's only one DLU.

What made this tweet even better was one major retweet: Tom Allen.

Clemson's defensive coordinator, who is known for motivating and team building, is going to use this quote to get his defense fired up, and you know the 'DLU' quote will be plastered on a bulletin board inside that locker room to be used for fuel.

Not only are fans aware that this comment was egregious, but the coaching staff does, too.
