When the cornerstone of your program is an empty-calorie nonsense cliche, you really have no place to stand on. While we all know how much the Clemson Tigers rock, the Florida State Seminoles seem to be at odds with their sods in favor of turning tile into rubble. Under Mike Norvell, Florida State has adopted the "break the rock" mantra to help galvanize the program. Is it working? Most definitely not.
Here are all the rocks Florida State wants to try to break this season. Will the Seminoles destroy six?

Florida State has the logos of all the teams the Seminoles will play this season in its weight room, including one with Clemson. They also massively disrespected the two in-state programs of note in Miami and Florida by situating the Hurricanes' and Gators' emblems upside down. This is how one creates unnecessary bulletin-board material for their biggest of rivals to seethe over all summer long.
With Norvell's seat being hotter than the coals from inside a sauna, surely, this will go over splendidly!
Florida State is about to find itself between a rock and a hard place again
When it comes to the hierarchy of the ACC entering this season, there are really only three tiers all 17 teams could be placed into. You are either in the Miami tier, the ACC title contender tier, or the not sniffing Charlotte tier. Since Clemson is not Miami, it must fall into the ACC title contender tier. As for Florida State, the only way the Seminoles are visiting Charlotte is in their memories from yesteryear.
Although Dabo Swinney has his issues to sort out this season, he is in so much better of a spot than Norvell is right now. Nobody's seat is hotter in the country than the much-maligned Seminoles head coach. If Florida State was not so cash poor, Norvell might already be out of his job right now. The tension in the air in Tallahassee can be cut through with a knife. Clemson has nothing to worry about.
Right now, we have to be totally honest with ourselves here. This hokey schtick coming out of the Florida State program only adds to the idea of how inexcusable it would be to fall to the Seminoles. While crazier things have happened in college football, Clemson is more likely to make the College Football Playoff than to stumble on the road to the lowly Seminoles in Tallahassee during Halloween.

Overall, while we could applaud Norvell for trying his best to rally the troops, we are never going to... Florida State used to be a program worth gearing up for in ACC play every season. The Seminoles used to battle with Clemson annually for Atlantic Division supremacy. Not anymore. It is a sign of the times. While the times they are a-changing, it would be shocking for Clemson to lose in Tallahassee.
Florida State may plan to break all of its rocks, but the Clemson one could be returned with a receipt.
