Although the Clemson Tigers took a 16-7 lead into halftime, fans were less than pleased with how the offense looked. While Christopher Vizzina did throw a touchdown strike to TJ Moore, the short field he had to work with was set up by a Georgia Southern muffed punt. He was later pulled from the game in favor of freshman Tait Reynolds for throwing an awful interception into double coverage.
While Reynolds did provide some level of spark offensively in the short-to-medium passing game, Clemson was terrible on third down and he struggled to make a difference in the ground game. The worst part about the first half offensive showing was how sound Clemson played on defense and in special teams for the most part. Tom Allen and Rich Bisaccia's units have kept Clemson in this game.
As expected, Clemson fans are preparing themselves for a long season because of this offense.

Clemson fans are accepting that they do not really have a quarterback
Reynolds did play better than Vizzina, but it was all too disjointed to gather any real momentum at all.
I'll tell you what... if you can't block Georgia Southern... you're in for a long season upfront. pic.twitter.com/K91ojPkC4k

We're deciding to KICK FIELD GOALS AGAINST GEORGIA SOUTHERN MAN
Clemson so desperately needed a portal QB.

LMAOOOO Clemson man… we don’t have a QB on the roster dawg

Until Clemson establishes some sort of presence at quarterback, it will be hard to score any points.
Pathetic showing once again. Tait showing a little more confidence though. Second quarter on

Shouldn’t be a shocking development to anyone, but the offense is still struggling regardless of who is at QB. #Clemson

Both Clemson QBs really struggling.

Louisiana Tech would beat Clemson by 7

The offense was heavily penalized in the first half, as the offensive line has not improved from Week 1.

Clemson got elite WRs and BOOOOOTY MEAT at Quarterback 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔

Gotta roll with Tait Reynolds. Vizzina seems like a great kid but I’ve seen enough—he’s just not a good QB #Clemson

This all really boils down to the biggest issue at hand when it comes to Clemson moving forward.
Dabo Swinney may regret re-hiring Chad Morris as offensive coordinator
The idea behind re-hiring Chad Morris as Clemson's offensive coordinator 12 years after he left to go lead SMU is blowing up in Swinney's face in real time. With Garrett Riley doing work with Missouri as the new quarterbacks coach over there, maybe this says more about the head coach than those who are calling plays? Morris knows what he is doing, or at least knew what he was doing. This is so awful.
The worst part in all this is there are no upgrades to be had on this roster. Morris does not have the best ingredients to work with at key position groups. For as talented as the wide receiver room is in Clemson, the rest of the offense leaves so much to be desired. While Morris is trying his best to commit to the run, Clemson only averaged 3.7 yards per carry during the first half of this ballgame.
Look. When your veteran starting quarterback is playing too erratic to be trusted, how can you expect a true freshman to come in and immediately settle things down? Reynolds did show a bit more competence in attacking the Georgia Southern secondary with his arm, but it is abundantly clear that he is a true freshman out there for Clemson. He is going to have to grow up in a hurry to make it work.
Clemson fans have every reason to be frustrated with this team, as Swinney did not do enough in the offseason to give this offense its best chance at success. We all are paying a price for it, dearly.
