Clemson football is built on family, and right now, Tiger Nation is coming together like never before to lift up one of our own. Hevin Brown-Shuler, a relentless force on the defensive line, is facing the fight of his life—and every single one of us is in his corner.
Hevin Brown-Shuler, our redshirt sophomore defensive tackle, is stepping away from the field for now after being diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. He’ll miss the 2026 season as he focuses on beating this thing, but if you know Hevin, you know his heart and determination are as strong as ever. He’s ready to attack this challenge just like he attacks every snap—full speed, no fear.
A Courageous Fight Ahead
Just a few weeks ago, No. 42 was flying around Death Valley, making plays and bringing the heat in the spring game—classic Hevin, wrapping up Chris Johnson Jr. in the backfield and firing up the crowd. Now, he’s facing a new opponent, and he’s already inspiring Tiger Nation with his courage and faith:
“Recently, after doctors discovered a mass in my chest, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. While this news was difficult to receive, I am grateful that the prognosis is very good, and I am approaching this challenge with optimism and determination.
“I have already experienced incredible care and support from the Clemson community and my Pace community. Because of the people around me, I have been connected with outstanding doctors and have received exceptional medical care, for which I am deeply thankful.
“I know there is a long journey ahead, but I am encouraged by the outlook and surrounded by tremendous support from family, friends, teammates and my communities. I appreciate everyone’s prayers, encouragement and respect for privacy as I focus on treatment and recovery.
“Thank you for your continued kindness and support. I can’t wait to run down that hill and touch Howard’s Rock again for the 2027 football season.”
Wrapped in Love and Prayers
Coach Dabo Swinney, the heart and soul of this Clemson family, wasted no time letting everyone know that Hevin has the full support of the program as he starts this fight.
“The Clemson Family and the entire college football world are with Hevin as he begins treatment this month. As a program, we’ll wrap our arms around him and his family as he steps away from football temporarily to focus on his health. Hevin, his family and the amazing medical teams that are caring for him will be in our prayers,” Swinney said.
