Clemson baseball is on a tear this season.

The Tigers have been playing some elite baseball under Erik Bakich, racing out to a 35-7 record overall after taking two out of three games in the series against No. 17 Louisville this past weekend.

This has been good enough for Clemson to move up to No. 2 in the latest polls.

Clemson has been playing some really good baseball this season and it's hard to say there are many better teams, but Texas comes in at No. 1 this week. The Tigers are just ahead of North Carolina who is fighting for that ACC crown but they're just 13-8 in the conference standings while Clemson is 13-5. They're both chasing Florida State who is currently in first at 11-4 but No. 10 in the nation.

Florida State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, NC State, North Carolina, Duke, and Louisville are all in legit contention for the ACC title, barring some crazy movement in the final weeks of the regular season, but the Tigers have to like where they stand.

Bakich and the Tigers have 14 regular-season games left, but they face a huge battle this week as they play No. 9 Georgia for a non-conference showdown at home on Tuesday night.

After that, they travel to Raleigh this weekend to face fellow ACC title contender NC State and then they'll face Florida State and Duke along with Pitt to end the regular season.

This is a fairly loaded conference and if Clemson can win it, a College World Series isn't out of the question. This team has what it takes from the coaching staff to the pitching staff to contend for the championship. Right now, it's the nation's second-best team.
