Entering the end of the fall offseason for college baseball, Clemson has been on the grind on the recruiting trail, grabbing another highly rated recruit in the 2027 class.

On Thursday, Clemson picked up a commitment from left-handed pitcher/first baseman/outfielder Cole Cinnamond. From Chesapeake, Virginia, Cinnamond is graded as a 10 on the 1-10 scale from Perfect Game. As a 10 grade from Perfect Game, Cinnamond is one of the highest rated recruits in the 27’ class.

Cinnamond will join other Clemson Tiger commitments from RHP/1B Logan Bristol (8.5 Perfect Game grade), OF/1B/LHP Griffin McKain (9.5 Perfect Game grade), and catcher Caden Borcherding (9.5 Perfect Game grade). Clemson has a total of seven commitments currently for the 2027 class.

“Large and physical frame with lots of present strength. Works from a belt high wind up with a low 3/4's arm slot, pretty low effort mechanics, and gets to his velocity easily. Fastball was in the low 90's and topped out at 93 mph with plenty more there, heavy fastball down in the zone. Slider was a very good second pitch with deep sweeping action and the ability to locate, sharp biting action, (and) ability to spot in his slider in and out of the zone stood out. 7.27 runner in the sixty. Secondary first baseman on defense, hands work well, and he fields the ball comfortably, makes accurate throws, and adjusts his arm slot well. Left handed hitter, hits from an open front side with a hard lower half turn, big uphill swing with pull and lift intent, swings hard, singular approach. High level arm talent. Excellent student,” reads Cinnamond’s scouting report on Perfect Game .

Topping out at 94 mph on the mound, Cinnamond ranks in the 99.94th percentile for all recorded players in the 2027 grad class. Also putting up a top exit velocity of 88 mph, the left-handed hitter ranks in the 86.29th percentile.

Being a two-way player, Cinnamond will provide head coach Eric Bakich with an opportunity to wait and see where Cinnamond fits best on the team. Whether as a position player, a pitcher, or both, Cinnamond has extreme value as a high school recruit.

Building a class for 2027, Bakich and his staff are off to a very hot start with the recruits they have landed so far.
