Can the Clemson Tigers hijack the recruitment of Fort Lauderdale’s top lockdown DB?

If there’s anything Mike Reed craves more than a game-changing turnover, it’s landing a cornerback with the kind of length that makes ACC quarterbacks lose sleep.

On Monday, Clemson threw its hat into the ring for one of the most intimidating defensive backs in the entire 2027 class. Bryce Williams, a four-star out of Western High in Fort Lauderdale, picked up an offer from the Tigers—and just like that, the whole recruiting landscape tilted toward Tiger Town.

Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing in at 175, Williams is exactly the kind of shutdown corner who has thrived in Dabo Swinney’s system. The only catch? Clemson is jumping into a national dogfight for his signature.

The "46-Offer" Gauntlet

Williams isn’t just a hot name in Florida—he’s a national obsession. Clemson’s offer is number 46 for him, putting the Tigers in a heavyweight battle with the likes of Georgia, LSU, Florida State, and Auburn.

Right now, Nebraska looks like the team to beat, with a big visit set for June 5. But Tiger fans know the drill: when Mike Reed sets his sights on a South Florida DB, the whole pecking order can change in a hurry.

Why the Tigers Pulled the Trigger

The rankings only scratch the surface—Williams is the No. 36 DB in the country and a top-30 player in Florida, but the film is what really pops. He uses every inch of that 6’2” frame to bully receivers at the line and erase passing lanes, just the way Clemson’s defense likes it.

It’s early in the 2027 cycle, but Clemson is making it clear: they want to lock down the next great Tiger corner. Williams checks every box—size, ranking, and an offer list that screams future first-rounder. Now it’s a full-on fight to see if the pride of the 954 will rock the paw or head elsewhere.
