Clemson fans, get ready to remind the nation who really owns the title of Wide Receiver U. The rest of college football better brace itself, because Bryant Wesco Jr. is about to light up Death Valley and bring that Tiger standard roaring back to life.

Let the national media chatter all they want about so-called breakout stars. Real Clemson fans know the truth: nobody in America has a higher ceiling than our own electric junior, Bryant Wesco Jr. Even ESPN’s Greg McElroy had to weigh in, dropping his list of the top 10 wide receivers heading into 2026.

Before he unveiled his rankings, McElroy made sure to shout out the elite playmakers who are right on the doorstep of national stardom.

“Some of these players just barely missed out on the top 10, and some are players whose situations have changed a bit, but based on last year’s performance, it’d be very easy for us to forecast them in the top 10,” McElroy noted. “All this is gonna matter. Every one of these guys will have something to say about this list by season’s end.”

Chief among those ready to shatter expectations is Wesco, whom McElroy designated as a premier honorable mention just waiting to erupt.

“He’s a name that probably should be in the national conversation, and isn’t right now because he’s had a few ups and downs in his career,” McElroy stated. “As a true freshman, he was terrific. Went for over 700 yards. He became the fourth player in Clemson history to post 1,000 receiving yards in just the first 15 games of his career, and he joined a pretty accomplished list including Sammy Watkins, Artavis Scott, Justyn Ross. Those are not names you just kind of stumble into. That’s real accomplishment.”

Overcoming a Nightmare No Tiger Will Forget

To understand why Wesco isn't already locked into everyone'sIf you’re wondering why Wesco isn’t already a lock for every preseason All-American list, you have to rewind to the gut-wrenching injury that derailed his sophomore season.absolute all-conference season through six games in 2025. Tragically, during a third-quarter punt return in his seventh game against SMU, Wesco was flipped into the air by a defender and landed directly on his head. While he courageously walked off the field under his own power, he was transported to a nearby hospital with a severe back injury. Thankfully, tests revealed no fractures, but his season was instantly over.

Before that devastating blow, Wesco had already caught 31 passes for 537 yards and a team-high six touchdowns. In doing so, he became the first Clemson target since Justyn Ross (2018-19) to record at least 500 receiving yards and five touchdown grabs in both his freshman and sophomore seasons. He also cemented his place alongside legends DeAndre Hopkins, Deon Cain, and Sammy Watkins as the only Tigers under Dabo Swinney to catch six touchdowns in the first six games of a season.

Ready to Reclaim His Throne

Here’s the best news Tiger fans could ask for: Wesco’s comeback is already in full swing. Before spring ball even kicked off, Dabo Swinney himself said Wesco looked amazing and was cleared for everything but live scrimmages.

McElroy admitted that a healthy Wesco is an absolute cheat code for the Tiger offense.

“If you look at last year, he was on pace for an All-ACC season through the first half of the year,” McElroy explained. “It was looking really good, and then had a back injury and never really got going again. Very scary injury. Landed on his head returning a punt. So, it was a very, very scary situation. Now, he was cleared to go home, but it sounds like, according to coaches, according to those who have seen him work, he looks amazing this spring. He’s doing everything except for the live scrimmage work.”

Now, heading into 2026, Wesco’s career numbers already pop off the page: 72 catches, 1,245 yards, 11 touchdowns in just 19 games. He’s a walking highlight reel, and if he stays healthy, there’s no ceiling for what he can do in orange.

“If he’s healthy, by all means, this guy has top-10 potential,” McElroy added. “No doubt about it. But the health question is legitimate, and that’s the reason why, right now, he is on the honorable mention list and not in the top 10.”
