Following a gritty, down-to-the-wire 80-79 victory over North Carolina in the ACC quarterfinals on Thursday night, the math has finally caught up to the eye test. ESPN’s "Bubble Watch" has officially moved Brad Brownell’s squad into the "Lock" category. No more sweating out mid-major upsets; no more refreshing KenPom at 2:00 a.m. The Tigers are in.
From the Brink to the Bracket
It wasn’t always this certain. Just a few weeks ago, Clemson fans were staring into the abyss after a brutal four-game skid—the program's worst since 2022. Losses to the likes of Virginia Tech and Wake Forest had the "Fire Brownell" camp louder than ever and the tournament projections sliding Clemson toward the dreaded "First Four" in Dayton.
But like a team possessed, the Tigers found their spine in the postseason. By taking down Wake Forest and then slaying the Tar Heels in back-to-back nights in Washington, D.C., Clemson proved that their early-season Quad 1 wins weren't a fluke.

The Tigers’ postseason momentum hit a wall on Friday night in a 73-61 loss to top-seeded Duke, but the damage was already undone. With 24 wins in the bag and a resume that features double-digit Quad 1 and Quad 2 victories, the only question left for Clemson is where the committee sends them.
Current projections have the Tigers hovering around the 5 or 6-seed line. A 5-seed would likely mean a trip to a nearby pod in Charlotte or Greenville—a massive win for a fan base that has traveled well all March.
