The wait to hear a Clemson football alum's name called in the 2025 NFL Draft finally ended on Saturday afternoon as Cincinnati selected star linebacker Barrett Carter in the fourth round.

It felt like this was a round or two too late, but the Bengals were thrilled with their pick.

How could you not be? Carter was one of the most productive linebackers in the ACC over the past three years, totaling 217 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, three picks, and 20 pass breakups. He did a little of everything from the linebacker position for the Tigers and Cincinnati knew he was a perfect fit for their defense.

In fact, the Bengals' organization had some rave reviews for the talented linebacker, according to defensive coordinator Al Golden in their official press release.

"Impressive human being. 4.0 GPA. Pre-snap, he's clearly in charge of that defense. A pure stack linebacker, but good in zone with good coverage skills. Four-down value. Early down. Third downs. Special teams. One of the more authentic interviews I had at the combine. As far as the pick, it was another unwavering moment... He's a cultural creator. He'll help ours."

Golden went on to say that Carter was a guy they considered better than his fourth-round selection, stating that he was graded to go higher than where he did. The Bengals had to jump on him when they had the chance in the fourth round.

This fit feels perfect on both sides. The Bengals need a culture guy who can make plays and Carter fits that billing. He's going to be one of the bigger surprises in this draft class.

Cincinnati is going to love Carter.
