After breaking out as a freshman, Clemson wide receiver Tyler Brown suffered a major setback in 2024 and battled through injuries en route to a disappointing second season.
While the drop-off in production wasn't his own fault, it got fans to kind of brush him to the side when projecting the receiver rotation for 2025. The Tigers were bringing back All-American candidates Antonio Williams, Bryant Wesco Jr., and TJ Moore to go along with talented transfer Tristan Smith. It felt like the offense would be loaded with those four guys catching passes.
Brown was a name that seemed to be forgotten in the receiving corps despite having that breakout freshman season followed by an injury-plagued sophomore campaign.
Forgetting Brown would be a mistake, said Williams last week at the ACC Kickoff. He told the media that he realized Brown was "back" during the spring when he was making those contested catches and big plays all over the field and he was playing with that fire and passions that everyone was used to seeing.
As a freshman wideout in 2023, Brown burst onto the scene with 52 catches for 531 yards and four touchdowns and it looked like he was going to be the future of the program. Brown and Cade Klubnik had a heck of a connection going.
That changed with the injuries in 2024, but he can't just be forgotten.
The Tigers will need depth at receiver and while they have the "Big 3" in the starting rotation, Brown is going to be right up there and he'll remind people early on that he still has a bright future.
Heck, there was a reason he was a freshman All-American in 2023, after all.
