The orange wall around the Palmetto State is getting stronger by the day, and Dabo Swinney is about to make sure one of South Carolina’s best stays right where he belongs—in Tiger Town.

Thursday morning brought a jolt of Tiger excitement as 247Sports Clemson insider Austin Hannon locked in a Crystal Ball for elite 2027 defensive lineman Seth Tillman to Clemson. The timing is perfect—Rock Hill’s own is rolling into campus for a huge official visit weekend, and the buzz is building.

Keeping Local Flavor in the Trenches

Defensive line coach Nick Eason is ready to go all-in to make sure this homegrown hero suits up in orange and purple. At 6-foot-3.5 and 300 pounds, Tillman is a force of nature—exactly the kind of player who can anchor the Tigers’ trenches for years to come. The recruiting services have him pegged as the No. 14 defensive lineman in the nation and the No. 4 overall player in South Carolina, but to us, he’s the top priority.

This isn't a new relationship, either; Tillman is a lifelong Clemson fan who has been tearing up Swinney's youth camps for years. In fact, former Clemson defensive end Levi Matthews shared a heartwarming throwback picture on social media of the young star from his camp days, adding a clear, undeniable message:

Stealing Momentum From the Bulldogs

The national media has been busy penciling Tillman into Georgia’s class, but the momentum has swung back to the good guys. Tillman got his Clemson offer last June, right on schedule with the Tigers’ tried-and-true approach to evaluating in-state talent.

Landing Tillman would be a game-changer for the 2027 class, giving the Tigers another blue-chip anchor up front to pair with Dutch Fork standout Jaden Wuerth. That’s the kind of depth championship teams are built on.

According to On3, the Tigers have aggressively skyrocketed up the 2027 team recruiting rankings over the last three weeks, currently sitting at No. 12 in the nation with 22 total commits. However, only 14% of that elite haul hails from inside our own state lines. Landing a cornerstone talent like Tillman would beautifully bolster that number.

This weekend marks Clemson’s second official visit weekend of the cycle. While it is an intimate gathering featuring just three recruits on campus, it provides the perfect, laser-focused environment for the coaching staff to roll out the red carpet and officially bring a long-time priority target into the Clemson family.
