Arguably the top Clemson football target in the 2026 class will be on campus this weekend for what should be the biggest recruiting event in recent memory with 30 prospects scheduled to visit.
Tyler Atkinson headlines that group.
The five-star linebacker from Loganville, Ga., is one of the best prospects that the 2026 class has to offer and he's actually the No. 1 recruit at his position in the country, according to the composite rankings. He's been at the top of Dabo Swinney's wish list for a minute now.
On Tuesday, On3 posted their list of the top uncommitted five-stars and Atkinson was right there at the No. 2 spot with predictions for both Georgia and Clemson to land him. He quote tweeted the On3 post and said, "Getting closer."
Obviously this means that he's getting closer to a commitment and that makes complete sense with official visit season about to kick off from May 30 until the end of June. Currently, though, he has just one visit scheduled and it's with Clemson over the weekend of May 30.
That's a good sign.
According to 247Sports, Georgia and Ohio State look like the current leaders in his recruitment, getting the "warmer" designation in terms of interest while Clemson, Alabama, and Auburn hold "warm" interests. Swiping Atkinson from Georgia would be a massive steal by Dabo Swinney and Co. and they have a chance to do just that this weekend.
The Tigers can make an impression on him that he won't soon forget and this May 30 visit could get them on top of this recruitment with a decision looming.
Let's all hope "getting closer" means shortly after his Clemson visit.
