Recruiting season is about to hit full throttle, and Tiger fans, this is where legends are made.

This recruitment has been a wild ride from the jump, but now four-star safety Jarrell Chandler out of Halls High has trimmed his list to a Final Four: Clemson, Tennessee, Miami, and Vanderbilt. The finish line is in sight, folks—Chandler is set to make his decision public on Monday, May 18.

At 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, Chandler is exactly what Tom Allen dreams about for his defense. He’s big, rangy, and brings the kind of physicality that makes offensive coordinators lose sleep. Whether he’s blanketing receivers or lowering the boom in the box, Chandler is the definition of a hybrid playmaker.

The "Full-Court Press" in Knoxville

Clemson is swinging for the fences here. With Tennessee holding the home-field advantage, the Tigers rolled into Knoxville with the big guns—Defensive Coordinator Tom Allen, Defensive Passing Game Coordinator Thomas Allen, and Safeties Coach Nolan Turner all made the trip to make their final pitch. This was a last-minute blitz to turn the tide before Chandler’s big announcement.back

This recruitment has been anything but smooth for Clemson:

  • August 2025: Chandler visits Clemson for the LSU season-opener.
  • December 2025: Communication goes cold; Chandler leaves Clemson out of his Top 10.
  • January 2026: Clemson officially offers, and the relationship reignites.
  • March 2026: Chandler attends the Elite Retreat in Tiger Town.

Versatility on Display

Why are college football’s heavyweights lining up for Chandler? Just check out what he’s done at Halls High:

  • Defense: 149 tackles, 15 pass deflections, 3 INTs.
  • Offense: 42 catches for 691 yards and 7 TDs as a junior.
  • The Fit: Miami wants him as a linebacker; Clemson sees him as a massive safety with "growth potential" into a linebacker role.

The Home-State Hurdle

Let’s call it like it is: Tennessee is the favorite here. Chandler is Knoxville born and bred, practically living in the shadow of Neyland Stadium, and he’s been on Rocky Top five times since March. But don’t count out the Tigers—Tom Allen’s history with big, athletic safeties and the chance to be part of Clemson’s storied defensive tradition has kept the Orange and White right in the thick of it.
