For the final time in the regular season, Clemson basketball will be on the road.
Wednesday night marks the final true road game of the season for the Tigers as they're set to head to Boston College to face the bottom-dwelling Eagles who are 12-17 overall and one of just three teams in the conference with fewer than six wins on the season in league play (they're 4-14).
This is the first meeting between these two teams this season and a win for Clemson would keep those ACC title hopes alive. The Tigers are one game back of Duke and winning out with the Blue Devils losing at North Carolina over the weekend would earn them a share of the conference crown.
Let's not get too ahead of ourselves here, though. Let's get bold ahead of Wednesday's game.
1. Chase Hunter scores 20-plus
If you can believe it, Clemson's leading scorer hasn't hit the 20-point plateau in over a month. That's right, it's been since Feb. 4 since Hunter last hit 20 points in a game as he's been on a bit of a dry spell in recent weeks.
In fact, in the 23 games before his recent dry spell, he was held to single-digit scoring just two times. Since then (six games), he has scored fewer than 10 points three times. That's just not up to par for the talented senior guard and he's going to make things right for his last road game as a Tiger.
Hunter will step up against Boston College and drop 24 points on over 50 percent shooting to go along with five assists, four rebounds, and three steals. Just a massive game.
2. Ian Schieffelin has second straight 20/10 double-double
Prior to the Virginia game, Ian Schieffelin had just one 20-point, 10-rebound double-double on the season. I say just because he's not new to double-doubles, but reaching that 20-point mark on one of them is an impressive feat that's happened just one other time. Time No. 2 came against the Cavaliers.
Well, the third such occurrence will be on Wednesday night as Schieffelin will record his second straight 20/10 double-double.
Boston College is a decent rebounding team, but Schieffelin is just a menace on the glass and will corral 12 boards to go along with 20 points. The Tiger seniors will have a day in Chestnut Hill.
3. Clemson scores 90 for the first time since the opener
It's hard to believe that Clemson has scored 90-plus points just one time this year and that came in the season opener against Charleston Souther. The Tigers have flirted with 90 on a few occasions since, but they've failed to reach that mark again.
Until Wednesday night.
The Tigers are going to see one of the worst defenses they've faced all year and Boston College won't have enough answers for Schieffelin and Hunter as the two go off for over 40 points combined and the rest of the team catches the scoring bug, too.
Clemson drops 90 in the final road game of the regular season and covers the 15.5-point spread.
