While all eyes in the Upstate are glued to Clemson’s huge recruiting weekend, Tiger fans have even more reason to celebrate as future Clemson quarterback Kharim Hughley keeps proving he’s one of the nation’s top pure passers—this time on the biggest stage.
The 2027 four-star quarterback commit out of Gainesville, Georgia, didn’t just rest on his Day 1 fireworks—he doubled down with another standout showing at the Elite 11 Finals’ headline Pro Day session out in Los Angeles.
Hughley put on a clinic in accuracy and composure, connecting on 17 of 20 throws in the Pro Day gauntlet. That kind of precision landed him ninth overall on Day 2 according to Rivals, cementing his status as one of the true alphas of the event.
Tearing Up the Gauntlet
Going up against 19 of the nation’s best high school quarterbacks, Hughley’s pinpoint execution put him in elite company. Only three quarterbacks managed more completions, including LSU commit Peyton Houston and Virginia Tech’s Peter Borque, who each hit 19 of 20.
National analysts are raving about the mechanical consistency of Clemson’s future field general.
The Talk of the Town
Hughley’s pinpoint accuracy on Day 2 was the perfect follow-up to the jaw-dropping arm strength he flashed on Friday, when Rivals slotted him as the No. 4 overall performer. At 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds, his ability to fire lasers from any arm angle has been the talk of the camp.
Rivals' Charles Power went as far as to state that Hughley’s arm talent completely stole the show early on:
Recruiting experts everywhere agree: Hughley’s ceiling is sky-high. ESPN ranks him the No. 124 overall prospect and No. 5 dual-threat quarterback in America, while Rivals has him at No. 137 overall and the nation’s No. 12 quarterback.
A Champion's Pedigree Heading to Tigertown
Hughley knows how to shine when the lights are brightest. As a junior at Gainesville, he led his team to 12 wins and a heart-pounding run to the Georgia 5A State Championship game, piling up 2,456 passing yards, 33 touchdowns through the air, and 8 more on the ground.
Tiger Nation won’t have to wait long to roll out the orange carpet for their next offensive leader. While most of Clemson’s 2027 class was on campus this weekend, Hughley circled June 12-14 for his official visit—the high-priority block party every Tiger fan has circled on the calendar.
If what we saw out West is any sign, the future of Clemson’s offense is in electrifyingly good hands.
“Hughley wasn’t always on the bullseye, but he got better as the gauntlet went, and he throws a really nice ball,” wrote Adam Gorney of Rivals.“Kharim Hughley had one of the strongest arms in the camp, and the ball really jumped out of his hand. It was noticeable, after several throws, you would see onlookers and even other quarterbacks looking at each other with a ‘what was that’ kind of look... Clemson fans should be very excited about what Hughley brings to the program.”
